That is right! There is a new sheriff in town and it’s ready to put a “healthier” twist to delivery trucks.
This week, the beginning of the Fruits and Veggies On-The-Move deliveries, has been more than just a learning experience for me! My first deliveries were filled with excitement and laughter from all the kids who were anticipating their fruits and veggies for the day. What surprised me the most was that a lot of these kids had no idea what I was giving them most of the time. I delivered nectarines, strawberries, apricots, snap peas and baby carrots this week (yummmm.) This was very hard for me to hear and it made me realize that what I am actually doing is really helping these kids get better nutrients and vitamins in their bodies that they barely get. Also, all these kids basically ate what they were given even if they did not like fruits or veggies. I can’t wait to continue delivering these treats while seeing the smiles on the kids faces!
Nectarines, the super food of the week!
This weeks healthy food of choice are nectarines! With only 60 calories a serving, these peach-like fruits contain beta-carotene which helps absorbs vitamins.
